Gutters protect your home from water damage

Your home or building’s gutters deserve scrutiny from time to time. Gutters are designed to channel water away from the foundation and many factors can prevent that from happening. The most common problem is clogged gutters. This not only blocks the flow of water, but gutters can become heavy with the excess weight of debris and standing water causing them to pull away from the fascia. Other gutter problems are deteriorated gutter fasteners, leaks and holes (especially at joints), improper pitch, drainage too close to the foundation and missing gutter sections.

A good time to check for basic gutter problems is during rainy weather. Take a walk around your home or building during a rain shower to check for leaking seams or areas where runoff from the roof has overwhelmed drainage.
